SSP22: Open events you can’t miss

The 34th edition of the Space Studies Program features events that are open to the public and free to attend. Join us!

The Space Studies Program 2022 (SSP22) has already started. Over nine weeks, the 107 participants in this edition of the course promoted by the International Space University (ISU) will explore the various areas of space from Oeiras, the city that is hosting the initiative. But Space should be for everyone and, therefore, there are events open to the public in which you can participate. Check the list:

 

ASTRONAUT PANEL – LIVING AND WORKING IN SPACE, with Jeffrey Hoffman and Paolo Nespoli

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live and work in Space? Astronauts Jeffrey Hoffman and Paolo Nespoli will answer all your questions and clear up all your doubts. This session will be conducted in English.

2001 SPACE ODYSSEY: HOW KUBRICK & CLARKE MADE A MASTERPIECE, with Michael Benson e James Green

ROBOT COMPETITION 

Técnico’s Campus att Taguspark, July 15, 20h30 

Thanks to LEGO Mindstorms, teamwork and a lot of imagination, ISU participants will design and build autonomous robots to perform tasks such as collecting samples or avoiding obstacles. The robots’ performance will be evaluated by a jury.

 

THE FIRST OBSERVATIONS OF THE JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE, with L. Y. Aaron Yung

Auditorium A1, Técnico’s Campus at Taguspark, July 18, 20h30

The first images from the James Webb Space Telescope, which left for space on December 25th, 2021, and which promises to revolutionize what we know about the universe, will be commented on by L. Y. Aaron Yung, from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
