Filipa was born in Madeira, where she lived until moving to Lisbon to study Law at the University of Lisbon.

Throughout her career, she has navigated different fields of knowledge, developing remarkable versatility and adaptability. She spent 17 years working in the healthcare sector before shifting to science, technology, and higher education. For seven years, she closely followed legislative developments in these areas, first as an advisor and later as a chief of staff in ministerial offices.

It was during this time that she took a keen interest in the creation of the Portuguese Space Agency, following its evolution from the outset. On the Agency’s fifth anniversary, she became part of the team.

In her free time, she enjoys life’s simple – yet most valuable – pleasures: being by the sea and spending time with family.
