Born in Lisbon, Nuno Freitas grew up between the North and South banks of the Tagus River. He eventually settled in Corroios two decades ago, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.

Before that, he joined the Portuguese Air Force Academy to become an Electrical Engineer, completing his degree at Instituto Superior Técnico in the Telecommunications branch. Throughout his career in the Air Force, he was consistently involved in the protection and survivability of aircraft in hostile environments, and he also served as the commander of a NATO/NCIA satellite station.

Now, just as before, he lives between two “banks” — though this time he connects them: he is the liaison officer between the Portuguese Space Agency and the Armed Forces. When he’s not building bridges between Space and Defence, he’s building spacecraft out of LEGO.
