Hugo André Costa

Hugo André Costa is an Executive Board Member at the Portuguese Space Agency. Hugo Costa is currently the national representative at the Committee of Outer Space Affairs at UNOOSA, at the European Commission, ESA Council, and acts as Chairman of the International Relations Committee at ESA. During his time at the Portuguese Space Agency, Mr. Costa successfully chaired the council working group in preparation for the Space Council in 2021 and led the working group of the space component of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU Council achieving the conference manifesto “The Lisbon Manifesto on EO for Africa and Europe”.
Before joining the agency, he worked at EUMETSAT in the Copernicus Programme Office. He also had experience in the space industry both in Space and Ground Segment in Spain and Germany.
Hugo André Costa was born and raised in the north of Portugal and has a bachelor’s in physics from Minho University. His love for space took him to Strasbourg to study a Master in Space Studies at the International Space University and later an MBA at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. He is currently a PhD student at ISCSP.
